3 strategies to help you stay focused and committed to your goals

Own your 1980’s Montage…
You know, it's that sweet three minute song in a 1980’s movie where the main character goes from Zero to Hero... magically.
(cue the sweet electric guitar solo)
Now imagine YOU are that main character and it’s time to win at your own life...
Look, in the real world, it doesn't really happen that fast. When we're trying to achieve some huge goal in our life, it usually takes a lot longer than three minutes. And the truth is... people usually quit too soon.
Don't worry if you're feeling this way right now, or if you’ve felt this way in the past, where you couldn't quite get into the rhythm of your own 80’s montage.
I’m going to teach you how to embrace the Hustle, stay motivated, and become the Champion of your own life.
Because if you don't, you may just keep quitting. You may get discouraged. Maybe you'll even stop trying
Now I've been in this position before where I was not properly embracing that 80’s montage in my own life...
Back in high school, (cue the 80’s music as we drift back into time) I was a State Champion Wrestler, up until my Junior year when I lost in the semifinals of the state tournament.
This loss just devastated me. It hurt like hell.
You see, I had expected to win, because I had always just won before. Others had expected me to win.
But what my 16 year old self quickly realized as the trophy was handed to the other guy, is that I had not been properly embracing all of the training that it required to get me to where I wanted to be.
Clearly, the other guy was training hard all year, and the proof was on the mat.
As I was being painfully honest with myself, I realized that I neglected a lot of the training that I should have been doing. I never really hustled towards my goal the way I should have been.
I was coasting.
Now, fortunately the following year, I was able to really dedicate myself, and I used that loss as a powerful motivator. I used that pain to train harder than I ever had before. I really dug into the process and gave everything I had.
It was difficult. It was painful. It took a long time.
My senior year, I stepped into the finals with a Champion mindset. I had embraced that training montage, hustled for my goals,... and came away with a victory.
But guess what?
It took a lot longer than three minutes.
Have you ever felt this way with your own goals? Have you ever caught yourself coasting? Or expecting huge results without putting in the work?
Maybe right now you're feeling like you've been trying for ages, and not seeing the progress that you want.
Maybe you think it shouldn't be this difficult.
Maybe you're feeling like you're ready to quit.
Well, in Living a Champion Life, we teach three key steps to “Embrace your 80’s Montage” and Hustle for your goals like a Champion.
-
You Gotta Show Up...
You gotta be prepared and ready to do the work that you need to do, for as long as you need to do it, in order to reach that goal.
Be at the right place, on time, every time. Day. After. Day.
Bring the proper gear needed.
Have the right mindset.
Stay until the job is done.
If you don't, you're going to be setting yourself up for failure, doomed from the beginning. You must truly be present emotionally, mentally, and physically. It really is half the battle as they say.
-
Embrace the Montage...
You really must get into that 80’s montage groove….
Okay, okay… It doesn't have to be 80’s music (although that is the coolest), but you have to get into that rhythm of; Work Hard, Eat, Rest, Repeat, Repeat, Repeat.
Over a length of time.
Through rainy days, tired days, ups and downs.
If we don't embrace this hustle for our goals, we set ourselves up with this false idea that somehow we're going to be able to microwave our success in 3 minutes.
Now, unless it's microwave popcorn, success does not happen like that.
You have to accept and own that fact. That real change and progress takes time and effort. You are shaped by the difficulties of any journey, not the easy parts.
-
You Gotta Restore…
Create the time to rest, recover, and give yourself physical and mental breaks.
If you don't, the straight fact is you're going to burn out.
We are designed to recover and heal from hard work, in order to make progress. The work itself isn’t the part that gets us gains. It’s the HEALING process that does that.
This isn’t just for your body either. Remember, the real “Rocky” montage never starts till Adrian helps him get his mind right…
So stop just grinding away, and purposely build in times to restore and recover along the way.
Now get out there and hustle for your goals like a Champion and start winning at life!
