Reduce Overwhelm and Bring Joy to Your Life (with these 3 tips)

Create space and bring joy.

All too often, we get caught up in the desire to just always push for the transformation, push for goals, just work harder, do more, be more, more, more, more…

The truth is;  There can be negative consequences of the “just push harder” mentality.

If we don't actually take time to create space for transformation and joy to take hold, it can make you feel overwhelmed, over-scheduled, and unhappy.

You may find yourself underperforming and possibly unable to excel at any of the areas of your life, because you're just trying to do too much.

I know you might be feeling like;  “I just need to work harder. I just need to push more. I need to get up earlier. I need to stay up later”...does this sound familiar?

But guys….this just can't be done.

I see it time and time again. I know you have good intentions. I do the same thing sometimes. I totally get how you feel...

I've been that over committed mom…

There have been times when I had too much on my schedule and I was taking on too many roles.  I'm trying to raise a family, but I also volunteer at the schools.  Oh...and I volunteered to coach our daughter's soccer team during the same season that my husband is coaching our son's football team. I also kinda run a few businesses with my hubs and still make time to have a strong relationship...

And, and, and….

Have you been here before?

Does this remind you of your own over hectic life?

I know,  it feels stressful, overwhelming, and totally out of control.

But, that’s exactly when you need to take bold action and create space for what you want most in your life.

At Living a Champion Life, we teach a step called Detox. During this step we look at all different areas of your life and declutter what is unnecessary and doesn’t bring joy.

Maybe it's the roles that are being assigned to you, or things you are always volunteering for.

Maybe it's your time management.

Perhaps it's your relationships.

Or maybe it's your physical space and environment (yeah...I mean you may need to clean out that closet).

Here are my 3 most effective tips to reduce overwhelm and bring joy to your life:

1) Decide what is most important to you.

You actually get to put a value on things and say, “this is important to me”, or it is not.

Think about my “over hectic mom” story.  I was trying to do everything for everybody, and I had to decide what the most important roles were to me, to our family, and to our future. I had to decide what means most when it comes to living the life that I want, and then declutter and detox the rest.

If we don't make those decisions for ourselves, it will inevitably be determined for us. Take the time to decide what is important in your life, in your schedule, in your diet, and in your finances.

Go ahead, make a list.

2) Create the space.

You're actually going to have to remove the things you don’t want.

Guess what….Sometimes I have to say, “No, I can't do that”.

“I can't run that carpool tonight”.

“I can’t make it to that fundraiser”.

“I can’t volunteer to organize that event”.

“I can’t buy those cookies, no matter how cute you kids are...I just can’t spend that money”.

It's okay guys, this is how we bring joy and get what we want most for our lives.

Go ahead...try it…

Say “No” sometimes.

Because guess what...

Not every job is your responsibility. You have permission to say “no”.

You get to create that space. Detox your life, your schedule, your diet, your priorities, and create the space to grow in the area you choose.

Think of it this way…

If you're at a spot where we feel like something's about to give, it's because something is about to give.

Our lives only have a fixed amount to offer. If we're trying to just smash more in there, something's going to pop out. So if we're going to create space for what we want most, we must choose what needs to go and cut it out.

If you don't choose for yourself, you may find yourself overwhelmed, unhappy, and totally stressed out.

3.) Take bold action.

Now that you have decluttered and detoxed...it’s time to choose what is added to your life.

Maybe it's choosing more positivity, through creating a morning routine.  You could detox negativity by not turning on the news or scrolling through your social media feed when you first wake up. Instead you choose to read a great passage from a book that you love or write in your gratitude journal.

Choose the things, people, books, and media that make you feel positive and inspired.  You get to make that decision.  If you don’t, you are surrendering to what everyone else pushes on you.

Take bold action, stay motivated,  and choose to bring joy to your life.

I hope that this information was valuable to you today.  I'd like to give you our Champion Playbook “The 5 Biggest Things You Must Do to Unlock Your Potential, Regain Control, and Get The Things You Want Most in Life”.

I hope you Champion yourself, your day, and your life.
